BaselWorld sees the launch of Rolex’s Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona in stainless steel, with a sleek black ceramic bezel.

A new version of Rolex’s Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona in 904L steel is paired with a black Cerachrom bezel, developed and patented by Rolex, paying a tribute to the rich heritage of this cult favorite chronograph. The black bezel is bringing back the classic look of 1960’s Daytona, and especially the historical 1965 model that was fitted with a black Plexiglas bezel insert – the Rolex Reference 6240, which remains one of the rarest and most sought-after by collectors.

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona is pretty much the same watch as any other contemporary Daytona, but with a nice addition of the black ceramic bezel. The bezel is a key part of Daytona’s identity, engraved with a tachymetric scale for measuring average speeds of up to 400 miles or kilometers per hour. In its latest rendition, the new Monobloc black ceramic bezel is corrosion resistant, literally scratchproof, and its color is fade resistant. Its remarkably legible tachymetric scale is created by depositing a thin layer of platinum in the numerals. The movement


The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is powered by the Chronograph Calibre 4130, which is an in-house, self-winding movement. This superior movement features a reduced number of components for the chronograph function, which increases its overall reliability. Calibre 4130 offers a power reserve of approximately 72 hours.

The watch is available on a solid-link Oyster bracelet in 904L steel, with an Oysterlock safety clasp. The Rolex‑patented Easylink rapid extension system that allows the wearer to easily increase the bracelet length by approximately 5 mm. The new Cosmograph Daytona with a black Cerachrom bezel is available in two versions: with a white or black dial. The white-dial version features black rings instead of silver above the sub-counters. The watch case measures 40mm in diameter.

Not to be outdone by Audemars Piguet and their claims to Formula 1 racing, Hublot, the official watch brand of F1, has announced the F1 King Power Austin as a tribute to the United States Grand Prix which was held in Austin, Texas this past weekend.
