Today, it is therefore Omega's turn to enter the ultra-light but also ultra-resistant watch market with this timepiece developed for sports and high-level athletes: in this case , this model was designed for the Irish golfer Rory McIlroy - who was sponsored by Audemars Piguet in his youth -, Omega ambassador since 2013.

The case
The 41mm case, caseback and crown are crafted from an alloy called gamma titanium, first used by Omega. This unique material, favored by the aviation industry because of its extreme strength, is stronger and lighter than conventional titanium.
After extensive research and several tests, the watchmaker has succeeded in reducing the amount of material used for the dial. A result which made it possible to lighten the watch without affecting its aesthetics. New from Omega: the telescopic crown which can be pushed back inside the case when not in use. This ergonomic detail avoids any interference with hand movements during sports practice. On the other hand, price side!
The movement
The Ultra Light is driven by the very first movement in ... Omega titanium. To limit friction between the components, the bridges and the mainplate are made from ceramic titanium, a material that gives the movement its particular dark gray color. The hand-wound 8928 Titanium caliber with Co-Axial escapement is certified Master Chronometer by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). It can withstand magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss. This watch is guaranteed for five years.
The strap
Designed to limit glare from the sun, this matte-finish Aqua Terra is distinguished by its bright touches of color on the aluminum seconds hand, the Seamaster logo, quarter-hour markers and stitching on the strap. It is available in three colors: red, green or blue. Each Ultra Light is presented on a rubber strap and supplied with a fabric strap for even more comfort when needed.
