Introducing The Breitling Superocean Heritage '57 Limited Edition II Replica In Support Of Frontline Healthcare Workers
It was only about a month ago that Breiting announced its new Superocean Heritage '57 Capsule Collection during a digital summit necessitated by the global COVID-19 pandemic. You may recall that there was one version of this watch, a limited edition of 250 units, that garnered quite a lot of attention. With graduated markers and hands that spanned the colors of the rainbow, the Superocean Heritage '57 Limited Edition offered a pop of vibrance in a collection of watches nodding to the last century. Now, the watch is back in a second version, a limited edition of 1,000 units that will support healthcare workers battling COVID-19 in countries that have been most affected by the pandemic.
While the original version of the Superocean '57 Limited Edition had a black dial, this new one instead sets the colorful hands and markers against a dark blue dial. In the photos above and below, we see it on a vintage-inspired leather strap. This strap can be configured with a pin buckle ($4,520) or with a folding clasp ($4,770). It's also available on an integrated Ocean Classic bracelet in stainless steel ($5,025), which is essentially a mesh or Milanese bracelet. Anyone who wants to bring even more color to the equation can add an Outerknown ECONYL yarn NATO strap, which is available separately in six different color combinations.
Breitling's press release this morning announced that part of the proceeds from the Superocean Heritage '57 Limited Edition II will benefit frontline healthcare workers in some of the most affected countries. The company added that it will donate an additional CHF 1,000 for each of the first 100 Superocean Heritage '57 Limited Edition II watches sold via Breitling.com. In total, Breitling says that it will donate $500,000, which will be split equally among six organizations in affected countries.
To this end, Breitling has laid out a detailed plan for where donations will be going. In the USA, Breitling will make a donation to Direct Relief, an aid organization that works to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies. According to the Breitling press release, Direct Relief is currently working to "make sure that the courage of health workers on the front lines is honored with meaningful support, and that the people most at risk in this pandemic are cared for."

Additionally, one of the 1,000 watches will be auctioned off in June by Charitybuzz, and the winning bidder will have a chance to have a digital live chat with Kelly Slater, a member of the Breitling Surfers Squad and an athlete who is considered by many to be the greatest surfer of all time. The proceeds from this auctioned watch will be directed to the U.S.-based charity Direct Relief.
