Introducing The Hublot Classic Fusion Extra-Thin Skeleton For 2018 Christmas Day

Around this time last year, Hublot shocked us with a watch that, frankly, we never saw coming.  It was called the Classic Fusion Extra-Thin Skeleton, and yes, the most surprising part of it was that it, unlike the rest of the Hublot collection, it was actually quite thin!  (BTW, Hublot just announced the same watch in Ceramic this week) Still, the watch was a little too large for us at 45mm, but just this week in Geneva, we saw the Fusion Extra-Thin Skeleton show up in a more wearable 42mm.

This is probably our pick of the litter from Hublot as it stands right now - it's a wearable 42mm with a nice thin case, and the Hublot caliber fairly interesting to look at.  It is also relatively affordable (we're told it should be in the mid teens).  It will come in both titanium and precious metals, and a bracelet is available - which is a nice touch. Still, everything about it - from the architecture to the movement finishing doesn't hold a candle to our favorite modern skeletons like the AP Royal Oak Openworked 15305, Piaget Altiplano Skeleton, or this year's Harry Winston Midnight Skeleton.  That said, this Hublot is significantly less expensive than all three.  So, while it may not be the nicest skeleton on the market, it's great to see Hublot trending in the direction of more refined, compelling watches.

The Hublot F1 King Power Austin Limited Edition Watch

Not to be outdone by Audemars Piguet and their claims to Formula 1 racing, Hublot, the official watch brand of F1, has announced the F1 King Power Austin as a tribute to the United States Grand Prix which was held in Austin, Texas this past weekend. Limited to just 250 units, this titanium cased chronograph boasts a carbon and titanium bezel which has been styled to look like a cross-drilled  performance brake rotor. Measuring 48mm across, the F1 King Power Austin is powered by the HUB4100 automatic chronograph movement which has a power reserve of 42 hours and offers a 30 minute chronograph, sub seconds and a date display. While the King Power line is a predictable platform for an F1-inspired watch, Hublot has not simply slapped an F1 logo on an existing model. Omega Speedmaster CK2998 Pulsometer Limited Edition Watch Every year at Baselworld, Omega announces a massive amount of new watches, and usually only a handful take the spotlight each year.
