Panerai L’Astronomo Luminor 1950 PAM920 Replica Watch
On the occasion of the SIHH 2018, the house of Officine Panerai introduced the new L’Astronomo Luminor 1950 Tourbillon Moon Phases Equation of Time GMT, a watch announced as the first of the Maison’s creations to have moon phases indication and an innovative system using polarized crystal to indicate the date. The beautiful new L’Astronomo is dedicated to the famous Florentine polymath Galileo Galilei, known for his support for Copernicus’s theory that the planets revolve around the fixed Sun (heliocentirsm).
The latest rendition of the iconic Luminor demonstrates the ability of the Florentine brand to interpret classic watchmaking complications in a truly innovative manner. The new model, PAM920, is building up on the success of the Panerai’s first L'Astronomo, presented in 2010 on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the Galileo’s telescope, which lead him to make new astronomical observations. The original L’Astronomo was the first timepiece created by Panerai with a Tourbillon regulator, calendar, equation of time indication and the display of the times of Sunrise and Sunset.
Just like its predecessor, the new L'Astronomo -Panerai Luminor 1950 Tourbillon Moon Phases Equation of Time GMT replica watch features the skeletonized movement P.2005/GLS, personalized to function in accordance with the geographical coordinates of a place chosen by the client. In other words, this watch is made to order.
In addition to the same range of functions as the original L’Astronomo, the new one also packs GMT and two other innovations: indication of the moon phases and an original system for displaying the date using polarized crystals. The moon phase with day and night indicator is visible on the back of the new L'Astronomo’s P.2005/GLS movement. It displays the phases of the moon using a system made of two superimposed discs which rotate in combination. The upper disc displays the 24 hours of the day, while the lower disc (visible through the small aperture at the center of the starry sky, reveals the Moon’s position relative to the sky above the place chosen by the customer.
The Panerai patent, polarized crystal date, is designed to prevent concealing of the parts of the skeletonized movement. The date disc is made of borosilicate glass and the numbers of the days have lasermodified optical properties. This means that the numbers are invisible in all positions except for the one that is aligned with the little date window.
Panerai’s new L’Astronomo is made to order and can be personalized upon request. The customer can choose between many different options for the case material, the color of the hands, the engraving, the strap, and other possible special features.
